Definition of Accessory

In accordance with the work A Dictionary of Law, this is a description of Accessory :

One who is a party to a crime that is actually committed by someone else. An accessory is one who either successfully incites someone to commit a crime (counsels or procures) or helps him to do so (aids and abets; see *aid and abet). The accessory is subject to the same punishments and orders as the principal (See also common design). It is an offence to assist a person whom one knows has committed an arrestable offence with the intention of impeding his apprehension or prosecutio
