All England Law Reports in United Kingdom

The All England Reports, cited [year] All E.R., are published weekly in paperback form. The All England Reports is a commercial series and contains reports of many cases that are not included in the Law Reports . Decisions of English Superior Courts and courts of special jurisdiction are reported in this series. All E.R. began publication in 1936, although it became virtually a complete set of British cases by releasing at the same time volumes containing reprints of selected cases from 1558 onwards.

The All England Law Reports Annotated 1558 – 1938 All E.R Reprint Index contains:

  • an alphabetical list of cases reported between 1558 – 1938 with references indicating where you can find each case in the All E.R.;
  • a subject index which gives subject headings, sub-headings, case summaries and case names with a reference to the volume of the All E.R. in which each case can be found.

The Consolidated Tables and Index 1936-1998 Volume 1, Tables contains:

  • an alphabetical list of cases reported in the All E.R in this period, and if relevant, the citation and treatment of later cases which considered it;
  • an alphabetical list of statutes considered and the citation of the cases which considered them;
  • an alphabetical list of words and phrases considered and the citation of cases which considered them.

The Consolidated Tables and Index 1936 – 1998 volumes 2 and 3, Subject Index contains:

  • an alphabetical list of general subject headings,
  • sub-headings,
  • brief case summaries, case
  • names and citations.

The All England Law Reports: Canadian Annotations to the Consolidated Tables and Index, 1936-1995 (Rpts. UK C2 A42) contains a list of cases reported in the All E.R. which have been considered in reported Canadian cases. Beside each case name is an indication of how the Canadian case treated the British case and the citation to the Canadian case.

Weekly issues of the All England Law Reports contain:

  • a list, on the front page, of all cases reported in that issue;
  • a subject index entitled, “Digest of Cases Included in this Part.” This includes general headings, brief summaries, case names, court levels, and page numbers where a digest of the case can be found in that issue.
