Definition of Applicant

In accordance with the work A Dictionary of Law, this is a description of Applicant :

A person who applies for something, especially court relief.

Applicant in relation with the Courts and Tribunals in England

A person who has applied for a selection exercise (whether eligible to apply or not).

Appropriate Authority The person to whom the Judicial Appointments Commission (JAC), a non-departmental public body, sends recommendations for appointment.

• Recommendations for appointment to Courts posts below High Court are sent to the Lord Chief Justice (LCJ).

• Recommendations for appointment to tribunal posts are sent to the Senior President of Tribunals (SPT).

• Recommendations for High Court and above and tribunals outside of the first-tier structure are sent to the Lord Chancellor (LC).
