Definition of Causing Death By Careless Driving

In accordance with the work A Dictionary of Law, this is a description of Causing Death By Careless Driving : The offence committed by someone whose driving while unfit through drink or drugs or driving over the prescribed limit (See drunken driving) results in the death of another person. For this offence, which was created by the Road Traffic Act 1991, the driving must be judged careless (See careless and inconsiderate driving) rather than dangerous (Compare causing death by dangerous driving); the maximum punishment is five years’ imprisonment and compulsory *disqualification.
