History of the Casualty

The following commentary about Casualty in the Churchill Era is produced by the Churchill College (Cambridge): Technically a service-man or -woman becomes a casualty when he or she is rendered unfit for service, even if only temporarily. As a rough rule-of-thumb casualty figures can usually be divided into a third (lightly) wounded, a third maimed, and a third killed.
