Definition of Central Criminal Court
In accordance with the work A Dictionary of Law, this is a description of Central Criminal Court : The principal *Crown Court for Central London, usually known from its address as the Old Bailey. The Lord Mayor of London and any City aldermen may sit as judges with High Court or circuit judges or recorders.

Central Criminal Court
Central Criminal Court, in Britain, the crown court in the City of London, able to try all treasons and serious offenses committed in the City or Greater London. First established in 1834, it is popularly known as the Old Bailey after part of the medieval defenses of London. The present building is on the site of Newgate Prison. (1)
