Definition of Children in Need

In accordance with the work A Dictionary of Law, this is a description of Children in Need : Those children designated by the Children Act 1989 as being in need of special support and provision by the *local authority. They include disabled children and children who are unlikely to maintain a reasonable standard of health or development without the provision of these special services.
