In accordance with the work A Dictionary of Law, this is a description of Civil Defence : Establishments and units organized or authorized by the competent authorities to carry out humanitarian tasks intended to protect the civilian population against the dangers of hostilities or disasters and to help it to recover from the immediate effects of these.
