Definition of Consumer-Hire Agreement
In accordance with the work A Dictionary of Law, this is a description of Consumer-Hire Agreement : An agreement made by a person with an individual, a partnership, or with some other unincorporated body (the hirer) for the *bailment of goods to the hirer. Such an agreement must not be a *hire-purchase agreement, must be capable of subsisting for more than three months, and must not require the hirer to make payments exceeding £25,000. The concept thus does not include a hiring by a company. Consumer-hire agreements. unless exempted, are regulated by the Consumer Credit Act 1974.
