In the English law this is a writ which gives to the sheriff (see law enforcement in the U.K. encyclopedia) apponere decem tales; i. e. to appoint ten such men for the delivery of jurymen, when a enough number do not appear to make up a full jury. [1][rtbs name=”history-of-english-law”]
