Deputy High Court Judge in relation with the Courts and Tribunals in England

The Crime and Courts Act 2013 provides for the Judicial Appointments Commission (JAC), a non-departmental public body, to determine the process for the selection of suitable people for membership of a pool from which authorisations to sit as deputy High Court judges will be made. These authorisations are made under Section 9(1) of the Senior Courts Act 1981 (SCA). Circuit judges, Recorders and qualifying tribunal judges have to become members of the pool before they can be asked to sit as a Deputy High Court Judge by the Lord Chief Justice.
