Good character in relation with the Courts and Tribunals in England
JAC is required to select people who are of “good character”. The application form asks candidates to declare any criminal offences, or issues of professional conduct or financial matters. Full guidance is available. The Judicial Appointments Commission (JAC), a non-departmental public body, also makes character checks with various bodies including, but not limited to, the Association of Chief Police Officers Criminal Records Office, Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs, the Insolvency Service and professional bodies.
