Definition of Gross Negligence

In accordance with the work A Dictionary of Law, this is a description of Gross Negligence : A high degree of *negligence, manifested in behaviour substantially worse than that of the average reasonable man. Causing someone’s death through gross negligence could be regarded as *manslaughter if the accused appreciated the risk he was taking and intended to avoid it, but showed an unacceptable degree of negligence in avoiding it.
