Definition of Careless And Inconsiderate Driving

In accordance with the work A Dictionary of Law, this is a description of Careless And Inconsiderate Driving : The offence of driving a motor vehicle on a road or other public place without due care and attention or without reasonable consideration for other road users. This is a *summary offence for which the maximum penalty is a *fine at level 4 on the standard scale and it carries 3-9 penalty points under the totting-up system (*totting up); *disqualification is discretionary. This offence, defined by the Road Traffic Act 1988 (in a section inserted by the Road Traffic Act 1991), replaces the former offences of careless driving and inconsiderate driving.
