Mobbing And Rioting

Scottish Law: Mobbing and Rioting in the Past

The general term mobbing and rioting includes all those convocations of the lieges for violent and unlawful purposes, which are attended with injury (see more about this popular legal topic in the U.K. encyclopedia) to the people or property (see more about this popular legal topic in the U.K. encyclopedia) of the lieges or terror and alarm to the neighborhood in which it takes place. There is further information on this topic in this legal reference. The two phrases are usually placed together, but, however, they have distinct meanings and are sometimes used separately in legal language; the word mobbing being peculiarly applicable to the unlawful assemblage and violence of several people and that of rioting to the outrageous behavior of a single individual.
