Patent Rolls in United Kingdom

The Rolls Series, which while not an exclusively legal source, contains much legal material (Source: the University of South Caroline Gould School of Law) Letters patent resemble charters, as they contained the more public directions of the kings, such as grants of offices and lands and licenses of all kinds.

Abstract: Consists of mandates, pardons, letters of safe conduct, grants of offices, appointments, and commissions. Vols 1 & 2 are actual Latin transcripts of the full text., vols. 3-6 in English, are calendars of the rolls.
