Specific duties in the Context of Equality Law

The meaning of Specific duties, published by the Equality and Diversity Forum (a United Kindom network of equality and human rights organisations), is the following: are the duties that apply to certain listed public bodies and are designed to help public bodies perform the Equality Duty better. The specific duties are different in England, Scotland and Wales. This section only covers the English specific duties which are set out in The Equality Act 2010 (Specific Duties) Regulations 2011. These regulations require listed public bodies to be transparent about how they are performing the Equality Duty by publishing information demonstrating their compliance with the Equality Duty annually, and by preparing and publishing specific and measurable equality objectives at least every four years. The specific duties apply to the bodies listed in Schedules 1 and 2 to those regulations.
