Summary of Sugar Act: (1764)
In relation to the legal history of the United States and the United Kingdom: Provided for strong enforcement of the duties on refined sugar and molasses imported into the colonies from non-British Caribbean sources to reduce smuggling. It granted a monopoly on the American market to the West Indies sugar planters.
