Definition of Tithes

Tithes were abolished in britain in 1936. Prior to that time a tithe required a part of an income to be given up for religious purposes.

English Law: Tithes in the Past

A right to the tenth part of the produce of, lands, the stocks upon lands and the personal industry of the inhabitants. These tithes are raised for the support of the clergy.

Developments
