English Law: Writ de Perambulatione Facienda in the Past

The name of a writ which is sued by consent of both parties, when they are in doubt as to the bounds of their respective estates; it is directed to the sheriff (see law enforcement in the U.K. encyclopedia) to make perambulation and to set the bounds and limits between them in certainty. F. N. B. 309.

“The writ de perambulatione facienda is not known to have been adopted in practice in the United States of America,” says Professor Greenleaf, Ev. 146 note, “but in several of the states, remedies (see more about this popular legal topic in the U.K. encyclopedia) somewhat similar in principle have been gived by statutes.” [1][rtbs name=”history-of-english-law”]
