In 2003, the Youth Justice Agency replaced the Juvenile Justice Board.

The principal aim of the Agency is to reduce youth crime and to build confidence in the youth justice system.

The Agency delivers a range of services, including diversionary interventions through a network of over 20 community-based projects, youth conferencing (a restorative process where victims have a say), and custody for the most serious offenders.

Additional information can be found on the Department of Justice website.
