Definition of Farrand Committee

In accordance with the work A Dictionary of Law, this is a description of Farrand Committee : A governmental committee set up in 1984 to consider (1) what tests were needed for non-solicitor conveyancers, and what other requirements should be imposed on them to ensure adequate consumer protection; and (2) the scope for simplifying conveyancing practice and procedure in England and Wales. Licensed conveyancers (*licensed conveyancer) were created in response to the committee’s recommendations on (1), and the Conveyancing Standing Committee was set up to advise the Law Commission on (2).
