Definition of Account of Profits

In accordance with the work A Dictionary of Law, this is a description of Account of Profits : A remedy that a claimant can claim as an alternative to damages in certain circumstances, e.g. in an action for breach of *copyright. A successful claimant is entitled to a sum equal to the monetary gain the defendant has made through wronging the claimant.
